High attrition in junior roles and significant margin pressure due to a competitive market for commoditised accountancy services.

The Solution

  • Designed and ran multiple operating model workshops which resulted in a series of agreed targeted changes required to achieve the new way of working. The workshop also included programme governance, roles, responsibilities and metrics which were agreed. This resulted where needed the creation of a series of business cases for funding.
  • Engaged a technology partner using an RFP process, articulating requirements, and implementing automations using an agile methodology to automate 25% of admin activity and release 80% of Trainee Accountant time.
  • Developed a people structure which moved to employing higher skilled workers and moving service propositions to focus on advisory work.

  • Conducted a deep diagnostic of the end-to-end mortgage process.
  • Key changes included removing a faulty automated work allocation system, re-designing roles for end-to-end case management.
